Instrucciones para estar sola (Instructions for Being Alone) Carrie Farrar

          Instrucciones para estar sola

Consultas un almanaque
en busca de soberanía y creencias profundamente enraizadas.
Autarquía y Nirvana.
Solipsismo.

Contemplas
la arquitectura de tu silencio,
saboreando la quietud afortunada,
el espacio justo
que hace tu existencia
respirar más hondo.

Las garzas azules se deslizan
sobre la reserva cerca a tu ventana,
quietas como pizarras,
y las puntadas de la telaraña
bordan un encaje plateado
sobre los aleros del porche.

Estás contenida
en una narrativa que tú misma has creado,
arquitecta
del pensamiento privado,
una erudita silenciosa
cuya compañía
has escogido libremente.

Tomas té negro
y observas cómo las estrellas
se afilan como diamantes.
Parábolas zen que se filtran
entre noticias que apenas miras.

Si conoces a Buda
en el camino,
mátalo.

El verdadero maestro
es el eterno estudiante.
La mente es su propio lugar
y en sí misma
puede hacer un cielo del infierno
o un infierno del cielo.

Serendipia.
Tomas tu té,
acomodándote en un sabor
que alguna vez aprendiste
a llamar hogar.

Instructions for Being Alone

You consult an almanac

for sovereign and deeply rooted beliefs.
Autarky and Nirvana.
Solipsism.

You contemplate
the architecture of your silence,
savoring the fortunate stillness,
the good space
that makes your existence
breathe deeper.

Blue heron glide
over the reservoir near your window,
still as slate,
and spiderwebs stitch
silver lace
across the high porch eaves.

You are enclosed
by a narrative of your own making,
an architect
of private thought,
a quiet scholar
whose company
is purely chosen.

You steep black tea
and note the stars
sharpening into diamonds.
Zen parables drift
through the newsfeeds you skim.

If you meet the Buddha
on the road,
kill him.

The true master
is an eternal student.
The mind is its own place,
and in itself
can make a heaven of hell,
a hell of heaven.

Serendipity.
You sip your tea,
settling into a flavor
you once learned
to call home.
